I grew up in the backwoods of Vermont as the 4th of 5 children. My family are some of my closest friends, they have supported me through everything and have taught me to work hard in all that I do. My first snowboard experience was on our local mountain Okemo, my brother gave me three free lessons as a christmas present. I was excited to get some knowledge from my ripping brother, midway into our first run he saw some friends and took off. If you want something you got to put in the effort to do it, I was learning on my own but the few turns I managed to link together were the start of a life learning process. Snowboarding was still relatively new so you had to have your own creativity and drive to push yourself to learn new tricks.
I started doing local contests at our home mountain and then progressed to contests around the East Coast. Placing in the top three at a few the regional contests earned me a spot at the USASA Nationals. All the young riders from each region of the US came together and did this contest once a year. This began my traveling around the US and would eventually lead to traveling the world. I am so grateful for having the chance to pursue something that is so amazing.
Finishing up my professional career as a snowboarder I had always loved giving my sister and other riders advice so I made the switch into coaching. Be silly not to put 20 years of snowboarding towards something still in the industry. I worked one on one with my sister Hannah for 2 years which was awesome but I needed more so I joined up with Vail Snowboard Academy and within three years there I had the opportunity to work with some amazing riders including Kazu Kokkubo, JJ Thomas, Jake Pates, Zackary Black, Brett Esser, Ayumu Hirano, and Kaitlyn Farrington. The whole snowboard community is a bunch of fun loving talented individuals and I love being part of it. So happy to be starting my own program with some great friends Abe Teter and Ben Boyd, excited to see what the future has in store…”Be passionate and it all falls into place”.
